Creating Your First Persona
Personas are the heart of PJais. Learn how to create your first AI personality in just a few minutes and start having meaningful conversations.
What is a Persona?
A persona is an AI personality with its own unique characteristics, knowledge, and behavior patterns. Think of it as creating a specialized assistant tailored to specific tasks or conversation styles.
🎭 Unique Personality
Each persona has its own tone, style, and approach
🧠 Independent Memory
Personas remember their own conversations separately
⚙️ Custom Settings
Configure behavior, knowledge, and capabilities
Step-by-Step Guide
In the PJais app, look for the sidebar on the left side of the window.
- Click on the Personas icon (looks like a group of people)
- You'll see a list of your existing personas (if any)
- Look for the "Create New Persona" button at the top
💡 Tip: You can also use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+N (or Cmd+N on Mac) to quickly create a new persona.
The first field you'll see is the Name field. This is how you'll identify your persona.
Good Name Examples:
- "Creative Writer" - Clear purpose
- "Python Expert" - Specific skill
- "Research Assistant" - Defined role
- "Friendly Tutor" - Personality trait
Naming Tips:
- Keep it short and descriptive (2-3 words)
- Reflect the persona's purpose or personality
- Make it easy to remember and distinguish from others
- You can always change it later
The description is for you, not the AI. It helps you remember the purpose of this persona when you have multiple ones.
Example Descriptions:
- "For brainstorming creative ideas and writing stories"
- "Helps with Python coding questions and debugging"
- "General-purpose assistant for daily tasks"
You can skip this field for now and add it later if you want.
The system prompt is the most important part! This tells the AI how to behave, what personality to have, and what it should know.
Simple Example (General Assistant):
You are a helpful, friendly assistant. Be concise but thorough in your responses. Use a warm, conversational tone.Specialized Example (Creative Writer):
You are a creative writing assistant with expertise in storytelling, character development, and narrative structure. Help users brainstorm ideas, develop plots, and refine their writing. Be encouraging and imaginative.Technical Example (Code Assistant):
You are an expert programmer specializing in Python. Provide clear, well-commented code examples. Explain concepts thoroughly and suggest best practices. Always consider code readability and performance.Tips for Writing System Prompts:
- Be specific about the role and expertise
- Define the tone (friendly, professional, casual, etc.)
- Mention any specific knowledge areas
- Set expectations for response style (concise, detailed, etc.)
- You can always edit this later!

Don't overthink your first persona! Start with a simple system prompt and adjust it based on how the AI responds. You can always edit and refine later.
Try different system prompts to see how they affect responses. Small changes in wording can make a big difference in personality and behavior.
In your system prompt, include examples of how you want the persona to respond. For instance: "When asked about code, provide examples with comments explaining each step."
Instead of one general-purpose persona, create multiple specialized ones. A "Python Expert" will give better coding help than a "General Assistant" when you're programming.
For creative tasks (writing, brainstorming), try higher temperature (0.8-1.0). For factual or technical tasks (coding, analysis), use lower temperature (0.3-0.5).
